The starting materials you should have for the biopsy collection are: a metal plate, cryomolds, a syringe of OCT, and forceps. For the sample processing and shipment, you should have a labeled specimen bag, a biophazard bag, tinfoil, and cassettes. Before collecting biopsy, prepare several cryomolds. Place the mold on metal plate, and fill carefully with a thin layer of OCT. Do not use too much, but make sure the bottom is completely covered. You can tilt the cryomolds to ensure all areas are covered, or add a small amount of extra OCT to cover the corners. Be sure to eliminate any bubbles that appear. Bubbles can be “popped” with a forceps tip.
